Blizzard announced the release date of the upcoming expansion called Battle for Azeroth on their website and YouTube channel. Battle for Azeroth will come out on August 14 this year.
On August 14, the Battle for Azeroth will begin! Prepare for war as the Alliance and the Horde go head to head in the latest World of Warcraft expansion. Explore the kingdoms of Zandalar and Kul Tiras, gather Azerite on uncharted islands, and strike at the opposing faction in Warfronts.

Maybe I’ve outgrown it, or maybe if it ain’t what I wanted, Im not interested. That image up there looks so overdone–my sense is they will just string the old timers along and conveniently forget about a new Old WoW and that will be the end of that. Sadly.
I talked about the release date with my friend in TeamSpeak today, and we both are not very excited. If at all, we will probably activate it in the meantime during the cold winter, to play it for a month. But it could also happen that we don’t play it at all. In other words, we’re not very hyped. We think the glory days of WoW are over. I am more interested in the classic servers, if they come. But there it’s just nostalgia and I might play it for that alone, since my other hobbies consume much more time today.

I hear you though. I look forward to Classic too, so much. But I do look forward to the Lore in the expansion, the story.

It could be that I play the new expansion with my friends, but we’re sure it’s not something we want to pre-order, and we also don’t feel stressed to get it on the release date. You never know what will happen, if we’re totally bored, it could happen that we get it. But what I mean is, back then we couldn’t await new expansions, and now it’s more like a “Good to know, time will tell” stance.. without emotions 😀 We have difficulties with where the game is going, but you know that already due to my other posts 🙂
I could imagine that I do it like you, playing through the Lore and discovering the new island… but I think it won’t fascinate me longer than 1 or 2 months. That’s how it was over the last expansions. Once in a while I was active, but usually not longer than 1-2 months.
