Common Moorhen Got A Fish

I saw this bird swimming in the pond and I think it is a common moorhen. And it seems it got a fish, probably a common minnow or a gudgeon (gobio gobio). It’s funny because I actually didn’t notice the fish in the beak when I shot the photo, I noticed it at home. I had to crop the image a lot because the bird was too far away. It was also shot at a time when I still did mostly take JPG photos. But I think it’s still a nice snapshot. You can find more bird photos on my … Continue reading Common Moorhen Got A Fish

Outdoor Cat

A week ago I was roaming around in the garden area with my camera because I wanted to photograph birds, but then I saw something behind a fence in the scrub moving. It was the cat that you can see in the picture above. If the photo looks a bit cloudy, that’s effect due to the fact that I shot through a fence. But somehow this fits to the image. Maybe because it gives the image the paparazzo vibe (laugh). This cat did not like paparazzi and disappeared in the deeper scrub after I shot the photo. It’s the time … Continue reading Outdoor Cat

Cheeky

Here is a photo of my cat Shyna. She looks a bit cheeky on the photo, but in reality my camera was just set to faster shutter speed. She was drinking water, and with the fast shutter speed I could freeze the moment where she showed the tongue. However, I didn’t like the photo in colour since it somehow had a bit too much orange in it, which means I didn’t like the illumination in my room. That’s why I converted the image to black and white. Continue reading Cheeky

White Duck

I saw this white duck having fun in a local pond. It made me wonder, because I don’t often see white ducks in the wild. I tried to research but all what I read says the same. White ducks are not very common in the wild, at least not in Germany. Most pages I have read do speak about escaped domestic ducks, hyprid ducks or escaped white pekins. Then I spotted a German blogger on WordPress who posted an image of a white duck as well in a list of hybrid drucks, with the same assumptions. So, who knows? All … Continue reading White Duck

Sea Spray

Here is a photo that I shot somewhere at the Baltic Coast in Germany. I saw these big stones that got washed by the sea spray. I like the sound of the waves, but I also like how you can smell wet stone, water and salt in the air when I am at the sea. In this moment I thought that I could try to capture how the stones get washed. Water is very beautiful, especially when it’s in motion, because you can see bubbles and it looks crystal clear or like glass when the moment is captured with a … Continue reading Sea Spray

Black-Headed Gull Landing In The Water

Above you can see a bird landing in the water and I think it is a Black-Headed Gull. Their appearance is tricky, because they look different depending on the age, if they are female or male, and depending on the season because they can be in winter plumage. In my photo collection of black-headed gulls, you can see how they always look different. Also with the Google image search you can see the difference appearances. If you like, you can find more bird photos on my blog. Continue reading Black-Headed Gull Landing In The Water
