Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

For the Monument Photo Challenge, I thought there would be no better subject in Lübeck than the Holstentor which is called Holsten Gate in english. I uploaded already a photo of the Holstentor some time ago for the photo challenge with the motto grand. But the gate fits yet again to the new challenge. I could now write a huge story about the Holstentor that is a very old architecture but the article on Wikipedia is very nice and explains it all, in case you are interested in history of Lübeck or history of the Holsten Gate. It was quite … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

Firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus)

Above you can see a Firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus) which I found on my way while wandering through my town. I like the patterns and colors of the Firebug and I guess the name fits very well to the appearance of this bug. I am little bit sad because I took several close-up images of the insect but this little friend was in hurry so that it was not easy. I thought I would have one very nice close-up shot but at home I did notice on my computer that most photos were too blurry and the photo above is the … Continue reading Firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus)

Pink Flower Bundle

The flowers on the photo did stand out of a garden fence and I liked them, so that I took a photo. I am not that happy with the result but it´s not too bad I guess. The pink colors appear quite strong on the photo. Ok I added contrast or adjusted the levels in Photoshop but the image was too bright first. It looks now better than before but as said, I messed up the colors I guess. Continue reading Pink Flower Bundle

Plants And Wall Background

I was bored today and decided to wander through Lübeck. I took my digital camera as I wanted to find out if I find some cool flowers or other subjects for new photos. I found the plants above and liked the bright background and shot a photo. I am not really sure what kind of plant it is but I found it anywhere outside. Do you know the name of the plant? Hefty And Tasty German Cuisine… Looks Tempting?

Above you can see another dish that the husband of my mother did cook. The ingredients are potatos, beef, paprika, carrots, onions, red cabbage and sauce. I love that so much. The onions, the paprika and the carrots are made together with the sauce. The secret here is that the flavors of the ingredients go directly into the sauce. If I visit them and if we eat that meal, I usually ask for extra carrots on my plate because I love cooked carrots so much. What you see on the image, is typical german cuisine. Very hefty and extremely tasty! Continue reading Hefty And Tasty German Cuisine… Looks Tempting?
