Majestic Red Kite
I am sad that I can only show you a heavily cropped image of this majestic bird, but it’s better than not to show a photo of the bird at all. At the beginning of the year when I was … Continue reading Majestic Red Kite

Here is a photo of a great crested grebe, you can learn more about the bird on Wikipedia. It’s easy to find them in Germany, and when you see one, there is a hight chance that you can watch them hunting for fish. They are great divers, and you often see them with a fish in the beak when they come up to the surface. In Germany they have a funny name, we call them “Haubentaucher”, literally translated it means something like “Hood diver”, where the “Hood” refers to the funny “hairstyle” of the bird I guess. Here is a photo of an African sacred ibis that I found during a hike through the Schellbruch. This is not a bird species that you usually would find in Germany, I talked a bit more about this in my previous article about the African sacred ibis. I just thought that I show you a photo from the same day but one that I cropped heavily. Of course, you can see the quality loss of the image due to the crop, but at the same time you can also see the bird better, which is why I am uploading the … Continue reading African Sacred Ibis Photo
Here is the Eurasian blue tit again, I showed you photos of this species a couple of times already. The photo in this post was shot last March under bad weather conditions and after I got my Tamron 70-300mm lens. I edited the image to make it a bit brighter but sadly I also had to crop the image to show you the subject. I think there was luck involved, I just pressed the shutter button at the right time, and it’s cool that I did so before the bird flew away. My bird photo collection get bigger and bigger, … Continue reading Beautiful Small Bird
I mentioned it already in two of my older posts, I found a bird station with big aviaries along a forest hiking trail. In the big aviaries were different birds that are not or less common in Germany. That’s where I shot a photo of a canary bird and a photo of a golden pheasant. In my current post I want to show you another photo that I shot there, a photo of a zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata). I do really prefer to take photos of free birds, not only because it’s better for the birds if they are free, … Continue reading A Zebra Finch
Here is a photo of a mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), also called wild duck. The duck in the photo is a female mallard, the males look very different and have a green head, with brighter and different plumage, and at the neck it looks as if they have a white collar. I have a post where you can see both a female and male mallard, the male is on the left and the female on the right. But I think the photo is not as great as the close-up photo of the female duck that you can see here in my … Continue reading Female Mallard
