Funny Dude

Today I looked through my older photos again, those that I shot with a point-and-shoot camera back then. Then I found the picture above. The sky was completely overexposed and I was unable to fix that so that I decided to go black and white right away. The photo was shot in 2011, we found some young camels (I guess) on a field and we took several pictures. They look pretty funny and they weren’t shy. Continue reading Funny Dude

Dark Path

Above is a photo that I shot in the evening somewhere in a small forest area outside of Lübeck. This time I tried a black and white effect with decreased shadows and blacks. It’s a pretty dark image and I increased the brightness for a moment but then I went back to the darker setting. I just like it that way,it looks desolate and maybe even a bit creepy. I like the dark mood of the image. It somehow reminds me of old point-and-click adventure games I played on my Amiga back then and later on PC. They often made … Continue reading Dark Path

Black Cat

Right now I do pay a bit more attention to the bad photos I shot. With bad I don’t mean that they are horribly framed or anything, but sometimes you had your camera set wrong and you notice it at home when you see the overblown highlights or whatever. Other times it’s just that the lightning was bad during the day, which results in dull colors. There are tons of things that can go wrong, and fortunately you can fix most of the problems very well if you shoot RAW files. But there are times where I go straight for … Continue reading Black Cat

Baltic Sea Pier

Here is another smartphone snapshot from the past. I like it because of the leading line, the pier. The original had really dull or boring colours. I decided to try different black and white settings and found one that I really liked. I’d say it’s a minimalist photo, but I like that too. The photo was taken at the Baltic Sea in Travemünde. I totally love that place, not just because it’s so close to me, but I am a Fischkopp to the core (a fishhead, a person from Northern Germany, someone who couldn’t live at a place far away … Continue reading Baltic Sea Pier

Tuxedo

Above is a photo of my cat Shyna again. Yes, Shyna`s photo library on my blog is still not big enough. I need to work on this. I am kidding. But you know, I like her so much that she’s not just a part of my life but also a part of my personal blog. Back then I often published photos of her in colour and I still do, but somehow I also like these photos in black and white. It totally works. Continue reading Tuxedo

Windows

I found the photo above in my library. This is one of many photos that I shot when I started out with my first DSLR camera. It’s somehow funny to see your own photos years later because then you try to understand why you took a particular picture. I think when you start out, you experiment a lot, that’s the first point. I think with this picture I experimented with the angle. I am also sure that I liked the windows, our historic district has some really cool and old-looking buildings. However, the original was rather boring, because the colours … Continue reading Windows
