My current PC System is a Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3 with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3ghz and 4gb Corsair DDR2 Ram. I ran the PC System with a Corsair TX 650 Watt Power Supply and a Gainward Geforce GTX 570 Phantom.
So even if it is an old AM2 and Dual Core System, Battlefield 3 for example did run surprisingly smooth and without any Problems on a native Screen Resolution of 1650×1050. A lot of my Friends didn´t believe that until they saw it. Nevermind if Single- or Multiplayer.. there wasn´t even a Problem on a Battlefield 64 Player Map.
I rather lately had some Problem with Armed Assault II Combined Arms if there are lots of AI´s calculated on a custom made Mission. But well. Arma II is anyway still today Hardware demanding. One great Example is the Graphic Option in the Game called View Distance. If you go to high there, then the Game Engine will simply show you that you never can have a fast enough Mashine.
Apart from that I also work with other Applications which demand much. 3d Tools like Cinema 4d for example demand much as well and you cant have a fast enough Mashine especially if you would like to try out creating and render Animations. I also do work with Music Software while I load a lot PlugIns which demand a lot too.
Also I do wait for the Release for the Games called “Total War Rome 2” and “Armed Assault 3“. The last one will have pretty high System Requirments anyway.
So I decided it is time to upgrade my PC. I just want to go over to the AM3 Technology with more and faster Ram. Also with a better CPU. But at the same Time I wanted to stay in a Budget of round about 200 Euro. And it was possible.
I decided to buy the AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU with a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Mainboard and a Corsair 8 GB KIT (2x4gb) DDR3 PC 1600MHz. There are then still two Ram slots open for additional 8 GB Ram which I will buy after I sold my old Components on the local Classifieds Marked. That System should bring me a huge Performance Step forward compared to the old System. For the Gamers under you… yes sure I dont really need 16 GB Ram for any Game but as I said, I use other Ram demanding Tools as well and there are Tools where even 32 GB would be great.
At the moment I really cant wait for my new Components. I went to a Shop this Monday and they had everything there expect the Phenom II X4 965. They said I could get all the Stuff either Wednesday, Thuesday or Friday because they can order the CPU. I called them yesterday by Phone but the CPU was still not arrived there. But they promised that I get everything on Friday.
So it will be a little bit quite next Days here on my Blog. I will build the new Computer and reinstall Windows 7 64 Bit and all the Drivers I need. And then starts the Horror of reinstalling all the other Games and Tools I use most of the Time. I think that will cost me some Time and I will do all that on the Weekend.
I feel already a a Thrill of Anticipation like a Children. Cant wait for Friday.
