Common Blackbird Close-Up

Here is a photo of a common blackbird again. I could get quite close with my Tamron 70-300mm lens, but I cropped the image to get even closer. The image quality didn’t suffer too much, I like how it turned out. It’s interesting, because you would think they always look the same, and they basically do, but since I shot many photos of common blackbirds, I start to notice differences. Yeah, they are black, but the body shape is often very different, or the feather tone can vary or the length of the beak for example. The bird in the … Continue reading Common Blackbird Close-Up

Adult Black-Headed Gull In Winter Plumage

Above you can see a picture that I shot weeks ago, it’s a gull. I used my 70-300mm Tamron lens and cropped the picture even further because I wanted people to pay attention to the head, mainly because I like the beautiful red/black beak. Apart from that, I generally like close-up shots because that allows us to see some details. It’s very easy to say that this bird is a gull, but if you are interested to find out what kind of gull it is, the identification can be tricky for beginning bird photographers. The thing is, black-headed gulls can … Continue reading Adult Black-Headed Gull In Winter Plumage

Chicken Close-Up

I mentioned already a few times that my mother and her husband hold several chickens in their garden. I like the chickens a lot, they are really funny and they have their own big lawn where they will follow you everywhere if they trust you. That’s not only funny and cute, they do also make great photo subjects. I usually photographed them fully but this time I tried to take a close-up photo. I hope you like the picture. Bee On A Yellow Plant

I find it quite difficult to take close-up shots of small insects with my 18-105mm kit lens. Mainly because it’s not a macro lens and because the minimum focus distance of 0.45 meters, but I definitely learned how to get around it and how to take decent close-up photos with the Nikon 18-105mm kit lens without additional equipment. So, I’ve been in the garden again today, and usually when I am there, I take my camera with me. I spotted some bees on a yellow flower, and the image in this post is one of the photos that I could … Continue reading Bee On A Yellow Plant

Common Blackbird Close-Up

You can find Common Blackbirds everywhere in the city, but the photo in this post was taken in the nature. I came fairly close with my 70-300mm Tamron lens, but I cropped the image slightly to get even closer. The black feathering of these birds might be boring, but still they are very funny and cute birds, and also beautiful. Looks like my Common Blackbird category on the blog is starting to grow. If you are new to the blog, check out my other photos. Continue reading Common Blackbird Close-Up

Weekly Photo Challenge: Details

I didn’t take a lot of new photos over the recent weeks, mainly because I was busy with other things, just recently I had to repair my PC for example. Also the weather is not really good in Northern Germany to have fun outside, it’s most of the time cloudy and rainy. This year is a bit strange, the spring felt like summer, and the summer is more like autumn here in the north. This weekend I saw the WordPress Photo Challenge with the motto “Details”, and I still can participate as I have way too many photos waiting to … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Details
