Rediscovered: The Food Lesson

Did I Live Inexpensively Enough? Recently, I had a realization about something again I already knew but didn’t implement into my lifestyle often enough. I do cook sometimes, but the big word here is “sometimes”. Sometimes? It could mean anything from one to three days per week but barely more often than that. And the remaining days I am just lazy and use convenience food and I definitely found my favorites there. So, it was a mix of both, cooking and using convenience food. Apart from that, I usually shopped for a number of groceries which would be enough for … Continue reading Rediscovered: The Food Lesson

The Pancake Issue

My uncle, my mother and me sat together some days ago and we decided to make pancakes. To be more exact, my mother made the pancakes because I am way too stupid to make them. It’s not that I don’t know how to make them, it’s just that my pancakes would look like noodles on the plate, because I never managed it to get them in one piece on the plate. You think it’s impossible to destroy pancakes before they land on the plate? My mother thinks that too and always chuckles when she hears about my problems with making … Continue reading The Pancake Issue

A Perfect Burger

Today I visited my mother as we wanted to cook something together. We decided to make burgers. We both think that the burgers of the known fast food chains are not very special, they taste a little bit like cardboard or something as drily. But creating our own hamburger? We never did that, it’s simply not that common here. To be honest, I pretty much like the idea of eating burgers, at least if they are freshly made somewhere, but not those you get from the very well-known big fast food chains. So, we though we should try to make … Continue reading A Perfect Burger

I Should Cook More Often

Above you can see a dish that I cooked yesterday. I made meatballs stuffed with ewe’s cheese. I did eat it with noodles and gravy. I used ground beef and ground pork, I added one egg, ketchup, mustard, freshly sliced onions and fresh parsley. I added some salt and pepper and breadcrumbs. Then I did knead everything together and started to form meatballs. I am not sure if this is different elsewhere, but that’s how most people do it in Germany. The only thing that was not so German about my meatballs is that I stuffed ewe’s cheese into them … Continue reading I Should Cook More Often

My Special Pasta Bolognese

I am not one of those who can conjure the greatest dishes in the kitchen. What I mean is that I don’t really know how this and that is done, which means the list of dishes that I can cook is rather small. Apart from that I am too lazy to cook and too lazy to learn other dishes or new things. However, the dishes I can cook, they are perfect, and I know, self-praise is no recommendation. But there are moments when you think you have outdone yourself. Today it happened again, that’s why I am excited right now. … Continue reading My Special Pasta Bolognese

Chili Con Carne Fire Edition And Some Talk About Spicy Food In General

I think I didn´t talk much about it here but I have a huge passion for hot and spicy food. Fifteen years ago or more, my family had friends (or let me say someone did marry into our family) which had Tunisian roots or let me simply say they were Arabs. So, sometimes on weekends we did sit together to have a chat and either we did cook or they, depending who was the host. I was still teenager at that time and when we did eat Arabic food, it felt like flying with a rocket to the moon, so … Continue reading Chili Con Carne Fire Edition And Some Talk About Spicy Food In General
