Industrial Area Near The Wharf

Here is a photo that I shot at night in Lübeck. This is an industrial area near the wharf. The original photo was horrible but I thought it looked nice in black and white. I also added grain to the image because somehow it just worked for this image. Maybe because it was a noisy image anyway and the added grain looked a lot better than the original noise of the image. Experimental Harbor Photo

Above you can see an experimental photo I shot at the harbor area in Lübeck. It is sometimes interesting to try things out, and I think I wanted to use the reflection of the window. You see an old storehouse that is now used for festivities, and in the reflection of the window you see the harbor and Trave River. In my opinion this image worked quite well in black and white so that I applied this to the image. Continue reading Experimental Harbor Photo

Handheld Night Photography Try

Here is a photo that I shot handheld at night. It’s funny, I have a very cool Manfrotto tripod and recently I did even purchase a cool tripod bag, but yet I am still too lazy to carry the stuff out there to take some cool night photographs. The photo in this post was shot without tripod, because as said, I am way too lazy to take the tripod with me. I shot the photo with manual settings as I wanted to try out if it’s possible at all. I did set the camera to ISO 1600 with aperture f4 … Continue reading Handheld Night Photography Try

Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

The recent WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge comes with the subject “morning”. I thought I participate with a photo that I shot at the harbor area in Lübeck near the Trave River. If you hike there in the morning, it’s a busy zone, unless you hike there on a calm sunday morning. I like the theme of morning photography, and I definitely should do this more often, because the colours in the morning are very interesting. Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Morning

Harbor Area In Lübeck

Fun fact, I have 5200 images that I didn’t upload yet, because taking photos is much easier than preparing or uploading them. At times I should upload older ones. Above you can see a photo I shot in Lübeck near the harbor area. You can see the Trave River in the photo. This is one of the photos where I wondered how it would turn out, I shot the photo after I got my D7100. I believe I was drawn to the colours in the heaven and the reflections in the water. The photo was shot in the morning, during … Continue reading Harbor Area In Lübeck

A Trave River Harbor Installation And The History Behind It

I shot the photo above one month ago when I wandered through Lübeck. The photo in this post is shot near the inner-city, the side where I shot the photo from is the historic district of Lübeck, but in this photo you can only see the old harbor installation on the other side of the district, in the middle is the Trave River. We call the area on the other side Wallhalbinsel, which means something like “Wall-Peninsula”. To explain this, what you see on the photo is a peninsula, it’s an artificial island, here is how the peninsula looks like … Continue reading A Trave River Harbor Installation And The History Behind It
