Weekly Photo Challenge: Focus

Some days ago, I found a bug near the stairway of my mother. We took the bug and went outside and droped the bug on the pavement and later on the grass. But first on the pavement to take a nice photo. I added a depth of field and vignette effect with the smartphone app pixlr o’matic as my smartphone camera has not such focal features like a pro camera. However, as always the result is great and I must say it again and again: smartphones are not too bad to take photos. This is why I will contribute with … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Focus

Bumblebee seeking Dust on a Flower

I had to visit to the authorities yesterday and I found this bumblebee on my way, seeking for dust on a flower. I noticed many of them but decided to go closer to take close-up shot of one of them. When I saw the images on my smart phone display, I thought the photos would be great. But arrived at home, I thought that the photo quality is not so good. But I decided to upload them anyway, because I like to have photos of insects and animals in general on my blog. But also photos of flowers. I think … Continue reading Bumblebee seeking Dust on a Flower

The Pink Ladybug

This ladybug did sit on the finger of a friend last summer. And I had to shoot a photo. I recovered the photo in one of my folders today and decided to edit the photo. I didn´t like the original image and added some focal blur and decreased the color saturation in the area while I kept and enhanced the color of the ladybug so that the insect stays in focus. I decided to colorize the ladybug from red to pink so that the image looks somewhat unnatural and funny. The result of the last change is not that good … Continue reading The Pink Ladybug

Leafhoppers on a Rhododendron? I think it´s a Rhododendron or?

I noticed these Leafhoppers on a Plant when I visited my Grandma and Grandpa in the Nature on their Campground in Salem Germany. I am not sure about the Plant. When I remember right, my Grandpa said it is a Rhododendron. What do you think? I am right? Is it a Rhododendron? EDIT: Big thanks goes to Alice… She gave me the Information that the Plant is definitely a Rhododendron. She also did correct me that the Insects are Leavehoppers as I thought they would be called Grasshoppers. Theirfor I was able to correct my Blogpost. I just did stand … Continue reading Leafhoppers on a Rhododendron? I think it´s a Rhododendron or?

This Insect didn´t want to be on the Photo. At least not with the Head.

This Insect did turn around while I did hit the Release Button of my Camera. Pretty wicked! I did turn around then too to get the Photo but the Insect did fly away then. I just thought “That´s unfair!”. 🙂 I have some more Photos with Flowers and Insects here… My Photos of Insects. My Photos of Flowers. Continue reading This Insect didn´t want to be on the Photo. A close-up Shot of a Bumblebee which is collecting Pollen from a yellow Flower

I did caught this Bumblebee in a great Moment. The Bumblebee seems to collect Pollen from the yellow Flower. I guess this is a great Shot considering that I did shoot the Photo with my low-budget Medion MD 86830 Digital Camera. I just increased the Contrast of the Image a little bit. Last Month my Mom took a similar close-up of an Insect but it was a Hoverfly on a Flower. I pretty much like those Snapshots of Nature and Insects. As always, here is the list of all the other Flower Photos we took and uploaded to the Blog: … Continue reading A close-up Shot of a Bumblebee which is collecting Pollen from a yellow Flower
