Carrion Crow

Above is a photo that I shot a while ago. I am pretty sure that it is a carrion crow but it could also be a common raven. This is a close-up shot but in 2017 I uploaded a full picture of that crow. We have so many crows in our area at the moment, it’s as if the population exploded. I’ve never seen that much crows. They have always been there, but today you find hundreds if not thousands of them in some trees. Continue reading Carrion Crow

Eurasian Coot

I shot a photo of an Eurasian coot near one of the local ponds. It’s easy to find them here, because there are always some near any pond. I think the photo is not perfectly in focus, but it’s also not too bad. But I find the plants in the background a bit distracting, but you can’t always get it right. Anyway, for a close-up shot it’s still great. Here is the photo… Continue reading Eurasian Coot

Fallen Tree

We sometimes have very stormy seasons in Northern Germany. Definitely not as bad as in some US States or other places with brutal natural force, but weather also got stronger here over the years. We even had tornadoes destroying whole villages, or cutting patterns through forest areas. It’s still happening infrequently, but it isn’t unusual anymore. I’ve seen two tornadoes with my own eyes, but they’ve been small and disappeared. One was visible from our district but disappeared before it could cause any damage. The other one was much larger but outside at the baltic sea, visible from the beach. … Continue reading Fallen Tree

Common Moorhen Got A Fish

I saw this bird swimming in the pond and I think it is a common moorhen. And it seems it got a fish, probably a common minnow or a gudgeon (gobio gobio). It’s funny because I actually didn’t notice the fish in the beak when I shot the photo, I noticed it at home. I had to crop the image a lot because the bird was too far away. It was also shot at a time when I still did mostly take JPG photos. But I think it’s still a nice snapshot. You can find more bird photos on my … Continue reading Common Moorhen Got A Fish

Outdoor Cat

A week ago I was roaming around in the garden area with my camera because I wanted to photograph birds, but then I saw something behind a fence in the scrub moving. It was the cat that you can see in the picture above. If the photo looks a bit cloudy, that’s effect due to the fact that I shot through a fence. But somehow this fits to the image. Maybe because it gives the image the paparazzo vibe (laugh). This cat did not like paparazzi and disappeared in the deeper scrub after I shot the photo. It’s the time … Continue reading Outdoor Cat
