Unexpected Possibilities

I purchased my Nikon 50mm prime lens because I liked the fact that you can play with depth of field and bokeh according to different sources. On my DX sensor, 50mm are effectively seen 75mm, that means I thought this would also be a nice lens to try portrait photography and this is true. The weather is so bad that I don’t like to go outside with my camera, but I tested the new lens inside. I visited grandma and grandpa, and my uncle, and I shot several portrait photos and liked it. There are a couple of other reasons … Continue reading Unexpected Possibilities

Santa Claus Came Too Early And Brought Me A Nikon 50mm 1.8G

Yeah, Santa Claus came a bit too early this year. No, let me be serious now, I actually made a present to myself. As I mentioned in this post, I tried to get a used Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens for 120€. Yes, this mission is complete, the post was written three weeks ago, that means it took me three weeks to find the lens and to convince sellers to let me purchase it for this price. Now that I followed the lens for several weeks, I can tell you that the average German market price (used) for the lens is … Continue reading Santa Claus Came Too Early And Brought Me A Nikon 50mm 1.8G

Roast Potatoes With Omelet

I didn’t come up with any photos over the last days because I’ve been very busy with other things in my life. However, I thought I share a photo from my archives again. This time I want to show you a plate filled with tasty roast potatoes and an egg omelet. This is the type of food that was invented for lazy people like I am. You can’t cook faster, you maybe can, but this is one of the top 100 meals that are done in no time. It’s not only prepared fast, it’s super delicious. I wouldn’t wonder if … Continue reading Roast Potatoes With Omelet

Orion Nebula And Orion’s Belt

Above you can see a test shot. I randomly shot a photo of the night sky. I don’t like the photo as much as the other one that I uploaded, but it’s still interesting to research about the stars in the image. Someone gave me the tip to upload my night sky photos to Astrometry if I want to know what is in the picture. The site is basically analyzing the image and will show you different tags of the stars, star constellations, planets and so on. Together with the program Stellarium, this is really useful. I am afraid, astrophotography … Continue reading Orion Nebula And Orion’s Belt

Beautiful Big Wheel

Here is another shot that I tried out yesterday. I saw the big wheel in one of the Christmas market areas and thought this would make a great photo. I didn’t want to have the Christmas market stands on the picture or any people, that means I looked for a good angle. I basically just wanted to have the dark sky and the colourful big wheel on the photo. I think I achieved that, and I like the angle. I shot the photo handheld at 1/30 second, f/4.8 and ISO 1600.
