Beautiful Water Drop On A Leaf

My mother shot the image above and I do think that this is a very beautiful scene. I love water drops and they look so great if they are on a leaf. I love how the reflection and transparency of water interacts with a green leaf. I told my mother that this is a stunning image. She shot it with her phone and it still looks so good. What do you think? Here is another image of the same scene… Continue reading Beautiful Water Drop On A Leaf

The Canoe Ready For A Tour

This is the borrowed canoe after we did put the boat into the water yesterday to start our canoe tour on the rivers in Salem and that was a lot of fun. The husband of my mother and me did use the canoe but my mother didn´t like to come with as she thought this boat would be quite unsteady but this is not true. I think a canoe is unsteady until you sit in and when the weight of all persons is in the middle. That´s all. But my mother was still afraid, so that only her husband and … Continue reading The Canoe Ready For A Tour

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

This photo is my entry to the Weekly Photo Challenge Reflection. I usually would say it is a bad image as I shot directly into the direction of the sun but the sun reflection on the water looks somewhat cool as effect. It fits at least to the recent challenge. I took the image when we were on the River in Salem last year. Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

Weekly Photo Challenge: Sea

The image above is my entry to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Sea. The photo is made in Travemünde near Lübeck and you can see the Baltic Sea. You also can find my half brother in the water. The photo was made on a cloudy day. You can see with the mood of the photo that the north german summer will end soon. Even if I described it often on my blog. Here again… Sea does mean fresh air and water to me. If you are born near the sea, you will never want to move away from the sea. Sea … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Sea

Hot Weather… Fresh Drinks… less Sugar!

I know, I know… I bitched about the hot summer a lot. But some fresh drinks are great to cool down. I now want to write about something, I changed in my alimentary habits. I am not a big fan of sugar-containing drinks anymore. I do think those industry drinks full of sugar are everything else but not healthy. On the other side I don´t really want to make rocket science when I get thirsty. There is a good compromise. I still buy industry drinks but I mix the stuff or let me say I dilute the sugar I consume … Continue reading Hot Weather… Fresh Drinks… less Sugar!

Aquarium fishes introduced: Boraras brigittae

My favorite fish for fishkeeping is the Mosquito Rasbora. This is a gorgeous little fish. You can see them in my fish tank in the video above, swimming near the water surface, seeking for food and enjoying the flow of water near my self-build filter and pump. The Moskito Rasbora is also called Boraras brigittae (scientific name). This is a pretty tiny fish (1-3 cm depending on their age) and great for smaller fish tanks. The fish tank in the video above for example contains just 60 liters of water. I have round about 15 Mosquito Rasbora´s in my fish … Continue reading Aquarium fishes introduced: Boraras brigittae
