Copy Layers From One Photoshop Document To Another
In this tutorial, you will learn how to copy Photoshop layers from one Photoshop document to another. If you don’t want to read that much, go right away to the short summary at the end of the article. There are different ways, but here is my favorite one…
I have a text layer called “Example Layer” in the first document. If this is the layer we want to copy to our second document, we need to do a right-click on the layer name in the panel.
It’s important that we right-click on the layer name and not on the small layer thumbnail beside the layer, because that would open the wrong menu.
After the right-click on the “Example Layer” name, a menu will open where we choose “Duplicate Layer…”. A small window will appear…
There is a drop down menu where we can choose the destination.
All opened documents will appear there, just choose where you want to have the layer copy.
Summary
- In the layer panel, right-click on the name of the layer you want to copy.
- A menu will open where you need to choose “Duplicate Layer”.
- In the duplicate layer window, choose the document destination of your copy.
