Elbe–Lübeck Canal

I thought it would be time to upload a landscape photo again. In this post you can see the Elbe–Lübeck Canal. It connects the Elbe and the Trave River in Lübeck. Sometimes I like to hike there because you can spot cormorants there, and with a bit of luck it’s also possible to find grey herons or sea eagles in that area. I saw them a the canal too several times, but of course when I didn’t have my camera with me. But I could take photos of these birds somewhere else already, fortunately. But one thing is sure, the … Continue reading Elbe–Lübeck Canal

African Sacred Ibis Photo

Here is a photo of an African sacred ibis that I found during a hike through the Schellbruch. This is not a bird species that you usually would find in Germany, I talked a bit more about this in my previous article about the African sacred ibis. I just thought that I show you a photo from the same day but one that I cropped heavily. Of course, you can see the quality loss of the image due to the crop, but at the same time you can also see the bird better, which is why I am uploading the … Continue reading African Sacred Ibis Photo

Weekly Photo Challenge: Local

This week, the WordPress Photo Challenge asks us what “local” means to us. I find the theme for the challenge easy but interesting. I associate the word “local” with Lübeck, the town where I was born, the town I am grown up and the town where I still live after so many years. I do even associate the word with Schleswig-Holstein, the federal state where I live, but I thought the challenge would give me a reason to share a photo from Lübeck, even if you can already find many photos of this city on my blog. It’s definitely not … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Local

Broken Windows

As mentioned in my previous post, I am going to upload some photos of abandoned and damaged things over time too. I became curious when I saw a documentary about photography where they reported about a few guys who liked to visit old places to take pictures of abandoned architecture and textures of old materials. At a later point I met a photographer in a forest and we talked about our hobby and he showed me on his phone what he is into, it was mainly portrait photography and lost places. I liked his portrait work, but the photos he … Continue reading Broken Windows

Damaged Window

I always wanted to expand the categories of my blog about urban exploration or abandoned stuff. If you take so many photos, you never know what you want to upload or share first. Abandoned things are very interesting and I shot all kind of photos that I shouldn’t forget to upload too. I always mentioned that I don’t know exactly what I like about abandoned things, but I assume it’s about the textures and details of old and rotten materials, but maybe it’s also about the mysteriousness of abandoned things.
