Under The Bridge

Here is a photo that I shot two weeks ago during a walk around the city along the Trave river. There are some really beautiful parks and paths but also some shady looking places like in the image above. In some areas it’s dark under the bridges and there are many smearings on the fundaments. I thought I convert the image to black and white, because it made the atmosphere in the image look even darker than it was before. I now already have a couple of bridge photos on my blog, that’s funny because I don’t hunt to get … Continue reading Under The Bridge

Fern Leave

In this post, I show you an experimental photo that I shot with my 40mm macro lens. I shot it the day I got the lens and when I wanted to try different things with it. I like fern plants and their leaves, they’re beautiful. It’s maybe because they look and grow perfectly. It’s maybe the symmetry I like. I actually liked them already when I was a kid. In the holidays, I always visited my grandparents on their campground in Salem, a very beautiful place with forests and lakes. With 8 years or so, I dug out a fern … Continue reading Fern Leave

Another Fly

Here is another photo of a fly. The photo was quite good as it came out of the camera. But I decided to heavily crop the image because it was still sharp enough for my taste. I am learning that macro photography is a lot of fun and completely different to what I have previously done. I think it’s inevitable, by using my new Nikon 40mm lens, I am probably opening pandoras box, which means I will probably put a longer macro lens on my wishlist in the future. But not yet, I do now have a new lens to … Continue reading Another Fly

A Fly

I was walking through the garden areas and saw a fly on a greenish wooden beam. While people say the Nikon 40mm macro lens isn’t perfect for insect photography, I often try to attempt things anyway. And yes, it’s difficult because you need to come close to have a nice picture, and you know insects are shy. But after using the lens for some days now, I can say it isn’t impossible because sometimes they let you come close. But I still would say it’s very tricky, and in the future, I might get myself a 105mm macro lens or … Continue reading A Fly

Tomato Onion Salad

We had a barbecue today in the garden. And as always, my mother prepared a salad as a dessert. This time it was tomato and onion salad. Super fresh and delicious! And since I like to take photos of fresh salads, I shot one this time again. I saw this nice park bench and thought it would be a great background. This is why you almost see the dressing spill out on the right side. The surface wasn’t even. This was shot with my 40mm and I think this lens makes me go a bit too close for a food … Continue reading Tomato Onion Salad
