I did spot a building that I found pretty interesting. Our city has a lot of old buildings and I like that a lot, but there are less modern buildings and when I find one, it’s special to me. I think that’s what I thought when I shot the photo you can see in this post. I liked it that there are large windows, especially because I noticed the reflections. I am a great fan of reflections, it’s just beautiful and sometimes even confusing. I stylized the image and I am happy with the result. What do you think? Here is another photo from Lübeck. I shot the photo in one of the streets of the historic district. That part of the city is quite old, and I think you can see this with the architecture. I like the old appearance, but it sometimes hard to take photos of the streets in this district as you either will have people in the photo or parked cars. Also I do wonder if a wide-angle lens would work better for this type of photography, but well, there are still other things on the wish list and I won’t add something to … Continue reading Historic District Street
Usually when I post photos of churches, it’s not because I am religious, I am actually not, it’s because I find churches interesting from an architectural standpoint. I saw the Look Up Photo Challenge on friday and thought it would be an interesting topic, but I couldn’t participate as a friend from Berlin did visit me over the weekend, and we took some drinks and had a lot of fun. Now it’s sunday and I am alone again, with headache of course, and I thought I do participate a bit delayed. My entry is a photo of the St. Mary’s … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Look Up
I shot the photo above in front of the town hall of the village where I am right now, as I liked both the town hall and the big Christmas tree. I did roam around in the town with the kids of my uncle, and they liked the Christmas tree too. They laughed at me, because I tried to take close-up pictures of the Christmas tree balls, because it’s a rocket science to take a photo without having my own reflection in the photo, but I got it right at some point. Anyway, I do start to understand where a … Continue reading Christmas Tree Snapshot
As I mentioned often, we have quite a lot of churches in Lübeck, and other old architecture. As I mentioned too, I am not very religious, but I am still interested in architecture, especially old structures including churches. The church in the photo is called St. Jakobi church and was built in the year 1334. The church has the title “church of the seafarers” since the medieval. Many churches of Lübeck were totally destroyed during the second world war, and most of them had to be reconstructed or repaired afterward, but the St. Jakobi church was not damaged during the … Continue reading St. Jakobi Church in Lübeck
