Weekly Photo Challenge: Ambience

The recent WordPress Photo Challenge is about ambience, and I thought one of the photos that I shot during a hike through the Schellbruch area in Lübeck would fit. I shot the photo during golden hour time and everything appeared orange and red. But to be honest, I even boosted this a bit further with Lightroom and Color Efex Pro 4. It almost looks as if someone painted it, but I like that. Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Ambience

Historic District Street

Here is another photo from Lübeck. I shot the photo in one of the streets of the historic district. That part of the city is quite old, and I think you can see this with the architecture. I like the old appearance, but it sometimes hard to take photos of the streets in this district as you either will have people in the photo or parked cars. Also I do wonder if a wide-angle lens would work better for this type of photography, but well, there are still other things on the wish list and I won’t add something to … Continue reading Historic District Street

Small Alley

We have some very small alleys in the city centre of Lübeck. Most of them are remains of the medieval urban development. I wanted to frame the cozy corner of it, because many of the residents have seating areas in front of their homes. The alleys are very calm places, because most of … Continue reading Small Alley

Cobblestone Street in Lübeck

Here is a photo that I shot some weeks ago when I also took the other street photo and another nice photo of Lübeck. The photo I show you in my current post was shot with 30 seconds shutter speed with a tripod. We have some interesting narrow alleys in Lübeck. I have some similar photos that I didn’t upload yet, but as always I will do this over time. Continue reading Cobblestone Street in Lübeck

King Thrushbeard

As mentioned in my previous post, I visited the inner-district of Lübeck today. They have one area that we call the ‘Märchenwald’, literally translated it means ‘Fairytale forest’. They set this area up every year when the Christmas market starts again. They basically show off scenes with figures of traditional fairytales. It’s an area that both, adults and kids enjoy equally. Fun fact, the ‘Märchenwald’ exists as long as I can think, that means my … Continue reading King Thrushbeard
