Chain

Today I visited my mother and her husband in the garden. And of course, I had my 40mm lens with me. I saw this chain on a workbench and since I like metal things, I took a photo. I really love this lens a lot, because it makes me shoot very different photos compared to what I’ve done previously. I can now take close-up photos of things again, that was something I liked to do with my point-and-shoot camere back then, or with my phones where minimum focus distance has not been a huge issue. And it isn’t with the … Continue reading Chain

Dog Nose Snapshot

Today I visited my mother and her dog Charlie came to me when I was on the balcony. I thought I take a snapshot with my 40mm lens. It was not easy because it was afternoon and cloudy. I am unhappy with the focus but I don’t want to delete the photo. I just call it a snapshot and experimenting (laugh). Maybe I can do it better on a brighter day. There are more photos of Charlie on my blog. Continue reading Dog Nose Snapshot

Daisies

Here is another shot with my 40mm lens. I already shot photos of daisies in the past, but I think it works much better with my 40mm lens now. It was a bit difficult to frame the shot but I don’t think the subjects always have to be completely in the frame. I liked the images as it came out of the camera, I just added a bit of clarity and sharpness. Apart from that I just made it a tiny bit brighter, that’s all. So far, the lens gave me some “good to go” images. Do you like the … Continue reading Daisies

Fir Hedge Background

Still experimenting with my new 40mm lens. And I realized you can also take some photos with it that could work as a nice Windows background on my PC, or as a background on my mobile devices. What I did there with the image above was getting very close to a fir hedge, focussing in the front and having depth of field in the background. I like photos like this one and will probably take my own background images in the future. I uploaded the image without doing any edits because I liked it as it came out of the … Continue reading Fir Hedge Background

White Flower

Here is another photo taken with my new Nikon 40mm Micro lens. It’s some time ago since I shot my last flower photos, because most of my lenses don’t do it well. Minimum focus distance was not really a big thing with my old point-and-shoot camera nor with my smartphone, that’s why I shot many photos of flowers back then. But my DSLR lenses didn’t do the job well, until now. So, I think once in a while there will be flower photos again on my blog. Continue reading White Flower

First Test Shot With Coins

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have a new lens, the Nikon 40mm Micro. When the lens arrived, I couldn’t wait to unbox it and attached the lens immediately. I wondered what I could photograph first. I mainly want to use it for small things, and then I looked into my wallet and found some coins, 1 Euro and 50 cents. I did put them on my desk and shot my first photo with this lens. Not too bad for the first one I think. Continue reading First Test Shot With Coins
