Fern Leave

In this post, I show you an experimental photo that I shot with my 40mm macro lens. I shot it the day I got the lens and when I wanted to try different things with it. I like fern plants and their leaves, they’re beautiful. It’s maybe because they look and grow perfectly. It’s maybe the symmetry I like. I actually liked them already when I was a kid. In the holidays, I always visited my grandparents on their campground in Salem, a very beautiful place with forests and lakes. With 8 years or so, I dug out a fern … Continue reading Fern Leave

Be Careful Near The Edge

Funny title, right? It’s yet again another photo post and I had no idea what kind of title I could use and came up with this. So, be careful if you stand near the edge of a cliff! I shot the photo near Lübeck, to be more exact between Travemünde and Timmendorfer Strand at the Brodtener cliff coast. This is at the baltic sea and a very beautiful place. The original photo looked more flat, but I extracted lots of details and messed around with the tone values until I liked it. Continue reading Be Careful Near The Edge

Tree Trunk Leaves

Here is a close-up shot of some leaves that are growing out of a tree trunk. I was hiking through the Riesebusch forest in Bad Schwartau yesterday, to see if I could find any interesting subjects in this rather grey season. I didn’t find a lot of things, but I liked the scene with the leaves that grow out of the trunk. The hike was still interesting, I did yet again meet interesting people. I talked with an older man, he told me that he was ranger before he retired. He saw my camera and said that he would be … Continue reading Tree Trunk Leaves

Riesebusch Nature

Today I took my camera and decided to hike in Bad Schwartau, a town 5 km north or northwest of Lübeck. There is a forest called Riesebusch and I wanted to hike there to take some new photos. Today I didn’t take a look at the weather report and it became quite windy and cloudy when I arrived. It was not the perfect weather to go hiking and to take photos. I had luck and it didn’t rain too early, but I was caught by the rain 10 minutes before I arrived at home and had to change clothes. I … Continue reading Riesebusch Nature

Common Blackbird Close-Up

You can find Common Blackbirds everywhere in the city, but the photo in this post was taken in the nature. I came fairly close with my 70-300mm Tamron lens, but I cropped the image slightly to get even closer. The black feathering of these birds might be boring, but still they are very funny and cute birds, and also beautiful. Looks like my Common Blackbird category on the blog is starting to grow. If you are new to the blog, check out my other photos. Continue reading Common Blackbird Close-Up
