Weekly Photo Challenge Close-Up: Thriving Flower

The recent WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge came last friday with the theme “Close-Up”. That is interesting, because the image I used in this post would have fit nicely to the theme, but I used it right before. Anyway, I have no problem to find another one. We don’t have the best weather right now, it’s raining since some days, that means I had to dig in my folders to find an appropriate image for the challenge, one photo that I shot before the rain. To be honest, most of the time my photos are uploaded delayed anyway. So, I decided … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge Close-Up: Thriving Flower

Tips To Get Close-Up Insect Photos With The Nikon 18-105mm Lens

I mentioned several times now in my blog that it’s impossible to get real macro photos with the Nikon 18-105mm lens, however, in this post I will write down how you can get decent insect close-up shots with this lens, it’s possible but not without limits. First of all, it’s definitely impossible to take close-up photos of any insects smaller than a bumblebee, common bee or wasp, of course you can take photos of anything smaller but I wouldn’t call it close-up anymore, the fact is you can not really get closer to tiny insects. Bumblebee At Work

It’s not a long time ago when I uploaded a photo of a bumblebee, but we have plenty of flowers in the garden and therefore also enough bumblebees and other insects.  I like to watch them, I also like to take photos of them. The Nikon 18-105mm lens is not really made for macro photography, but the more I use the lens, the more I get at least some kind of close-up shots, not exactly macro shots but still interesting photos I think. Rudbeckia In The Garden

I know I have some followers interested in the gardening subjects, and usually I would ask them for the flower names when I uploaded flower pictures, but I found a couple of nice German flower related websites and this time I hopefully found the right name on my own. If you told me flower names in the past, I am very thankful for that. But it’s also interesting to research on my own, it might be that I learn some flower names on this way, but it also might be that I come up with the wrong names, it’s not … Continue reading Rudbeckia In The Garden

Our Red Currant Berries

Do you like to eat red currant berries? I liked them ever since I can remember. I think I did eat my first red currant berries when I was six years old or so, we had a garden back then too. We had several red currant bushes, each day I picked them and enjoyed the taste. Today if I pick and eat some, the memories come back and I feel like a child again for a moment. It’s good that we have red currant berries in our recent garden too, they are mature and we can already eat them. They … Continue reading Our Red Currant Berries
