European Herring Gull Enjoying The Rain

I shot the photo of the European herring gull yesterday when I drove to Travemünde with a friend. As mentioned in a previous post, it became rainy as soon as we arrived. It was a little bit sad because I wanted to take photos. Some say that you can use the D7100 in rain and others said you can damage the camera on this way. I shot some photos but decided to put the camera back into the bag when the rain got heavier. I have no problems to use the camera in soft rain, but I do not want … Continue reading European Herring Gull Enjoying The Rain

More Garden Flowers

I noticed I shoot more photos than I ever upload. That was already the case when I still used my point and shoot or smartphone camera, but it’s even more the case with the DSLR as I pretty much enjoy to be outside with the camera. The photo above is taken in the garden again, as always I am not sure what kind of flowers they are, but I liked the scene and took a photo. I like both, the flowers in the background and the ones in the foreground. I think the flowers in the foreground are rather wildflowers. … Continue reading More Garden Flowers

First Garden Yields

On friday when we celebrated mom’s birthday in the garden, we also checked out how the garden plants are doing. We found the first radishes, we found three of them. Mom got one, her husband and I tested one too. Apart from the fact that I am a real fan of radishes, the garden radish tasted extremely good. The husband of my mother doesn’t like chemicals, he prefers to let the things grow on their own and you taste it. The garden radish was actually more tasty than those you get in the stores. Next we also checked out the … Continue reading First Garden Yields

Off-Season

I actually thought I couldn’t take any photo for the recent photo challenge with the motto Off-Season. But we have still very mixed weather in Northern Germany, it’s actually not really summer weather except for some good days. Yesterday we had a good day, a friend came to visit and asked me if I would like to drive to the beach and I thought the idea would be great. The weather was perfect when we started, but as soon as we arrived, the weather changed from summer to autumn and it began to rain. In the photo above you see … Continue reading Off-Season

Vivid Flowers

The recent Weekly Photo Challenge theme is “Vivid”. We have a small flowerbed near the pond in our garden, the flowers are very tiny and I think they really look vivid. The flower bed is not very big but depending on the angle you take photos, it looks like an ocean of flowers, that’s at least what I tried to achieve. I shot two photos and couldn’t decide which one is better, I decided to upload them both to this post. However, I wish I would have had another lens for the shots. Continue reading Vivid Flowers

Just A New Flower Photo

Today in the morning I found some flowers on my hike through the gardens. You can see one of them in the photo, they look like daisies but I am not really sure if they are. The flower you see in the photo does actually look smaller than I saw them in real. They were much bigger than a usual daisy, especially the stem was quite long with around 20 or 30 cm. Most daisies I saw in the past were pretty tiny, it seems this is a big one that is not so common here, I did at least … Continue reading Just A New Flower Photo
