Brenner Moor


I shot the picture above in Bad Oldesloe, a town between Lübeck and Hamburg. I took the photo in an area called “Brenner Moor”. By the way, “Moor” means “swamp” in English. The area is a nature reserve and as the name implies, it’s a swampy area, a salt marsh to be more exact. In this case that means salt that comes from 500 meters below is reaching the surface. Reinfeld Nature in Black and White


I still have tons of photos of my time in Reinfeld. On the photo you see the large pond they have. It’s not a river, it’s really a pond. Once in a year they literally pull the plug and dry the pond out. No joke, they have small canals and water mills to do it. On that way they catch all the big fishes. That’s quite effective, huh? Good Day


I had sleep problems over the last weeks, that sometimes still happens but last night I slept very well. That means I woke up with much power and happiness. It’s a Sunday and I wanted to start the day slow but when I booted up the PC, I noticed the date and it came into my mind that it is election day. I am talking about the elections to the city-state parliament of Lübeck. So, I looked for the polling paper and found it near the TV. Fallen Tree


We sometimes have very stormy seasons in Northern Germany. Definitely not as bad as in some US States or other places with brutal natural force, but weather also got stronger here over the years. We even had tornadoes destroying whole villages, or cutting patterns through forest areas. It’s still happening infrequently, but it isn’t unusual anymore. I’ve seen two tornadoes with my own eyes, but they’ve been small and disappeared. One was visible from our district but disappeared before it could cause any damage.
