Gathering

The photo above is my entry to the recent photo challenge. I thought I could use one of my bird photos for the theme “gathering”, although I shot the photo by the end of summer. Some photo challenges do remind me to go through the photos which I didn’t upload yet. You can see cormorants in the photo, I found them when I walked through the Schellbruch preserve area outside of our city. I really like cormorants, they are very interesting birds. Beautiful Eurasian Coot

In the photo above you can see an Eurasian coot, I shot the photo near a pond when I walked through the parks. I believe it’s the first time that I took a photo of an Eurasian coot, or the first time I uploaded one to my blog. It’s good to have some other bird photos uploaded to the blog, although it’s sad that we don’t have so much colourful birds in Germany, our birds are rather common and not so paradisiacal, but still beautiful I think. Beautiful Swan

Last week I decided to grab my camera and went outside to see if I can take some new photos. I didn’t want to walk miles and decided to walk to one of the ponds in our parks. I noticed right away that it’s a little bit more difficult to take decent photos in autumn, especially when it’s so cloudy, but I went back home with some good bird photos. I saw some swans and shot several photos, you can see one of them in this post. Continue reading Beautiful Swan

Just A Common Blackbird, But Anyway…

The recent weekly photo challenge is about (Extra)ordinary things, and it took me a while to decide what kind of photo I would use for the challenge, mainly because I have all kind of photos that would fit. I eventually decided to use a photo of a common blackbird, because this summer I was pretty much into bird photography. How do I interpret the challenge or why did I choose a bird photo? I’d say certain birds are ordinary creatures, here in Germany it won’t take you much time to spot a common blackbird for example, at least in the … Continue reading Just A Common Blackbird, But Anyway…

Black-Headed Gull With Winter Plumage

Above you can see a gull, I had to research what kind of gull it is, but I believe it might be a black-headed gull. But the gull in my picture is not black-headed, that confused me when I researched, but it seems their plumage does change depending on the season and if they are breeding or non-breeding. So, if I am right with my research, the gull in my photo is a black-headed gull with winter plumage. You can find a couple of photos in a Wikipedia entry that shows the different plumage appearance. The site All About Birds … Continue reading Black-Headed Gull With Winter Plumage

Pigeon Power Napping

I shot the photo of the sleeping pigeon a week ago when I walked through the city. At first I thought the pigeon would have some kind of disease, but when I saw the photo at home, I thought the pigeon does just hold a nap, I’d say a power nap at day time. I saw the bird near a load and busy intersection in the city, I am not sure if it’s the best place to hold a nap, but as you can see, the bird was ok with the place. As I was still confused if the bird … Continue reading Pigeon Power Napping
