Handheld Night Photography Try

Here is a photo that I shot handheld at night. It’s funny, I have a very cool Manfrotto tripod and recently I did even purchase a cool tripod bag, but yet I am still too lazy to carry the stuff out there to take some cool night photographs. The photo in this post was shot without tripod, because as said, I am way too lazy to take the tripod with me. I shot the photo with manual settings as I wanted to try out if it’s possible at all. I did set the camera to ISO 1600 with aperture f4 … Continue reading Handheld Night Photography Try

Weekly Photo Challenge: Edge

Above you can see a photo that I have chosen for the recent WordPress Photo Challenge. I took the photo during my hike through the Schellbruch, because there is a small and beautiful village where people have their own gardens and their own pier. Imagine you have your own pier at the end of your garden, and your own boat, that’s pretty cool! Talking about the photo, I am not sure if it was a good idea to focus on the background, maybe I should have focused on the pier, but I just recently discovered a better way to focus … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Edge

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mirror

The recent WordPress Photo Challenge theme is “Mirror“, and that’s a cool theme because reflections comes to my mind when I think about mirrors. I pretty much love reflections, especially in photography, and everything with a reflecting surface is attractive, that includes the water surface. I shot quite a lot of photos where you can find reflections, but I want to participate with one special photo that I like pretty much. One morning I was hiking along the Trave River close to the historic district of Lübeck, and then I noticed one of the hotels on the other side of … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Mirror

Mascot of the Blog

It’s time to share a photo of my cat Shyna again. She is basically the mascot of the blog, and I shot thousands of photos with her. At this time there are 140 posts about her on my blog. I expected more to be honest, but maybe I didn’t tag all the posts with her name when I started this blog in 2011, and this would mean there are much more. Talking about the photo, I liked her pose, but I disliked the warm colours as the photo was shot in the evening with bad lighting. I almost deleted the … Continue reading Mascot of the Blog

Emmi Portrait

Here is a photo of my uncles dog, she is called Emmi. I am not completely happy with the photo, but it’s also not a photo I would delete. I like the close-up shot, but I am unhappy that I did not frame it well, I’d prefer it if I would have shot it so that you can see a little bit more of the neck. The background is a bit distracting in one area, especially the bright area beside her right ear. But photography is about practicing and improving, and I take a look at the issues to take … Continue reading Emmi Portrait

Tractor Tracks

Sometimes I really like minimalism in photography. You can take photos where there are tons of things in the scene, and most often it can be very interesting, but sometimes there are also scenes that are beautiful because there is less. When I look at the image above, I remember that I liked the green colour of the field, and I liked it how the tractor tracks acted like leading lines, that made my eyes move from the bottom of the field to the top, and the other way around. When it comes to colours, there is just blue, green … Continue reading Tractor Tracks
