I shot a couple of photos of a common moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) a month ago. I was hiking along the Trave channel in Lübeck when I noticed the bird on the side. The bird was pretty shy and was walking fast to flee into the close shrubberies, which means I didn’t have a lot of time to react and to take the photos. I mention this because I feared that I might miss the shots, because it didn’t happen often that I saw this species in our city. What an interesting bird! Looks like a seagull cross with woodland pheasant.
I don’t see this one often in our city and was amazed too when I saw the bird 🙂 The red-yellow beak looks interesting 🙂
