Above you can see a photo that I took a long time ago when I was bored. I shot the photo at a time when I didn’t own a DSLR camera. I think it was shot with a cheap camera or with the phone. Back then I tried to experiment in photography too, just with different gear. So, in this case I just placed a model ship in front of a white tiled wall. But as today I often liked the modify the images afterwards, to find out how certain effects would change the image. I have no clue what I did with the image afterwards because it’s too long ago, but I like the arty result. Now it looks like the ship is sailing during sunset, what do you think?

The photo of the model ship looks like a storybook illustration.
Yes, that’s what I like about photo editing. Many people thing photos have to be, well, photo-realistic. I think that doesn’t have to be the case. The photo of the model ship for example would have been quite boring, but with filters, effects and changes I could make it look like an illustration and it became an interesting photo.
Usually when I am unhappy with a photo, I try to go away from the realistic look and see how it turns out. Often that is a lot of fun and the results can be quite interesting as well 🙂
