The Borrowed Canoe

The husband of my mother knows someone who owns a canoe and he got the offer to borrow that canoe for three weeks. We usually used a rubber raft when we wanted to have some fun on a river but it´s quite difficult to paddle with a rubber raft if you want to get ahead on the river. I think a rubber raft is only good if you have an outboard motor but then you can´t use it on all rivers due to the fact that most rivers are parts of a nature reserve and it is not allowed there, … Continue reading The Borrowed Canoe

Bulgur Salad, The Perfect Dish For Warm Weather

From one day to the other the weather changed from rainy weather to hot weather. It´s at the moment very warm and I really dislike to eat warm dishes when the weather is so warm. I prefer colder dishes as salads then. One of my favorite salads is the Bulgur salad that the woman of the Turkish fruit dealer creates. I think I wrote about it already but I have some new photos and thought I do it again. Bulgur is made of durum wheat as she told me and it is often used in Turkey, she said. She said … Continue reading Bulgur Salad, The Perfect Dish For Warm Weather

Playing With The Cat And A Band

I took the photo above while playing with my cat. She did swipe this band from one of my shorts that was laying on my bed. I would need to thread this band back into the shorts with a needle but decided to use the band to play with my cat. I mean, she seems to like this band, otherwise she wouldn´t have stolen it. We played a lot until she got tired to sleep away on the jacket that was laying on my bed as well. Seems to be cozy there 🙂 Continue reading Playing With The Cat And A Band

Daily Prompt: Great Expectations

Today the Daily Prompt asks “Tell us about one thing (or more) that you promised yourself you’d accomplish by the end of the year. How would you feel once you do? What if you don’t?” and I really can relate to this question. After tons of photos that I took with my point and shoot camera or smartphone, I really would say that I am interested in taking photos. While I do think that you can get great results on this way, I also found out the limitations of the hardware. I have the idea in my mind to buy … Continue reading Daily Prompt: Great Expectations

Ant Power And Teamwork

I shot the photo above some weeks ago when I was in Salem to have a barbecue. I found many ants there and really liked it, when I saw an ant that carried another one. The autofocus of my point and shoot camera does not always work very well. In this case, the ants did always run out of the focus, which resulted in a very blurry photo. I did add an amount of sharpening with Adobe Lightroom to fix this a little bit at least. What I love about ants is that they are team players and they have … Continue reading Ant Power And Teamwork
