Somewhere In Lübeck

Some days ago I went for a walk with my mother. We roamed near the inner-city of Lübeck. We took some photos with our phones. Above you can see one of the photos, we shot in the direction of the historic city where you see some churches of Lübeck. But the historic district starts behind the white houses and there is also the Trave River. I assume it is not cheap to live in one of the white buildings, because the view on the other side is amazing. It’s most likely a nice place to have an apartment. Beautiful Street in The Historic District of Lübeck

I shot the image above in one of the streets of the historic district of Lübeck. This district is basically the core of the city, the inner-city but I mentioned this often. There are some very beautiful streets. There are for example a lot of beautiful small alleys with cobble streets and plants growing up the houses as you can see on the photo. The architecture there is very interesting. In other streets you find a lot of cultural and old Brick Gothic buildings. But today, the urban image is a mix of old architecture and architecture with modern influence … Continue reading Beautiful Street in The Historic District of Lübeck

Just One of Many Bridges In Lübeck

Above you can see one of many bridges of Lübeck and the Trave River that I mentioned quite often here on my blog. The image was pretty overexposed and I fixed this at least a little bit. I removed a lot of highlights but it didn´t make me happy so that I decided to add a black and white gradient map to get a slightly monochrome image. If nothing goes when we talk about overexposure, it´s sometimes a good idea to change the image to black and white. The overexposed areas are then less noticeable in my opinion or at … Continue reading Just One of Many Bridges In Lübeck

Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

For the Monument Photo Challenge, I thought there would be no better subject in Lübeck than the Holstentor which is called Holsten Gate in english. I uploaded already a photo of the Holstentor some time ago for the photo challenge with the motto grand. But the gate fits yet again to the new challenge. I could now write a huge story about the Holstentor that is a very old architecture but the article on Wikipedia is very nice and explains it all, in case you are interested in history of Lübeck or history of the Holsten Gate. It was quite … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

Weekly Photo Challenge: Grand

This image is my entry to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Grand. The gate on the left side of the image is called Holstentor (in english: Holsten Gate) and it is the landmark of the town Lübeck where I live. People who are interested about this beautiful and old architecture, might want to check out the article about the Holsten Gate on Wikipedia. While I know a lot about our landmark, I am actually little bit too lazy to prepare a complex and huge article. But I might hit that topic in the future too as I still have a lot … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Grand
