Beautiful Grey Heron

Since I started to run, I always try to run routes where I can see a bit of nature. Yesterday when I was running again, I noticed a grey heron and I was a bit mad that I did not have my camera with me. When I was in Reinfeld back then I noticed that grey herons often come back to the same ponds. So, with that in mind I packed my camera bag and wanted to hike the same route that I did run yesterday. I was quite happy when I saw the grey heron again, but this time … Continue reading Beautiful Grey Heron

Very Beautiful Swan

I am still not in the mood to go hiking, mainly because it was bitter cold outside over the last days. But I was pretty slow with my blog this month, and I really don’t want to get used to the laziness and looked through my photo library to see if I can at least share some older photos. I found a photo of a white swan, and while I do already have similar photos on my blog, I thought this one was worth to upload too. I hope you like the photo. Continue reading Very Beautiful Swan

Beautiful Small Bird

Here is the Eurasian blue tit again, I showed you photos of this species a couple of times already. The photo in this post was shot last March under bad weather conditions and after I got my Tamron 70-300mm lens. I edited the image to make it a bit brighter but sadly I also had to crop the image to show you the subject. I think there was luck involved, I just pressed the shutter button at the right time, and it’s cool that I did so before the bird flew away. My bird photo collection get bigger and bigger, … Continue reading Beautiful Small Bird

Stray Glaucous Gull

As almost everywhere near the coast, it’s also easy to find gulls near the German coast, for example herrings gulls. It’s however less likely that you will find a glaucous gull (Larus hyperboreus) here at the German coast, but that’s exactly what happened to me during a hike through the Schellbruch. I was wondering why the gull looked so different compared to other gulls and after researching I found out that it’s a less common gull. In other words, the habitat of this gull species is much further north in the subpolar zone and in the arctic polar region. But … Continue reading Stray Glaucous Gull

Beautiful Forest Bird

Today I walked through the forest again and then I saw a bird in the bush, it’s most likely an Eurasian blackcap bird, a male, because the females have an orange cap and not a black one. During my research I also thought it could be a March tit or the Willow tit, but now I am sure it’s the Eurasian blackcap because the others would have a black marking on the chin and there were some other differences. After I nailed it down to the three birds, I asked the Google image search and thought, yeah, this should definitely … Continue reading Beautiful Forest Bird
