A Young Black-Headed Gull

Yesterday I went outside to hike a bit, because the weather was good except that it was still a bit dark and cloudy. But the day seemed to be much warmer and not too cold, which means hiking was enjoyable. However, it was a hike inside the city and along the Trave Channel and Trave River. Of course I had my camera with me, but there was nothing out of the ordinary so that I did end up taking photos of common birds like gulls. I guess photography is a bit like hunting, you need your trophy when you go … Continue reading A Young Black-Headed Gull

Swimming Great Crested Grebe

Here is a photo of a great crested grebe. I cropped the photo quite a bit and it resulted in quality loss, but I wanted to show this bird anyway. I find them quite funny, because they do basically look like the punks under the birds. If you like to take a look, here is another photo of this species. I can’t await the warmer season, to get out again and to maybe take new bird photos. This winter I wasn’t really in the mood to go hiking or to do photography, but it’s usually anyway more the time where … Continue reading Swimming Great Crested Grebe

Very Beautiful Swan

I am still not in the mood to go hiking, mainly because it was bitter cold outside over the last days. But I was pretty slow with my blog this month, and I really don’t want to get used to the laziness and looked through my photo library to see if I can at least share some older photos. I found a photo of a white swan, and while I do already have similar photos on my blog, I thought this one was worth to upload too. I hope you like the photo. Continue reading Very Beautiful Swan

House Sparrow

Here is a photo of a house sparrow that I shot during a hike in Bad Schwartau, a town that is smaller and more rural. I found a lot of sparrows on my way, there are much more in rural areas. I did already take several pictures of sparrows in the past, but this time I am actually not that sure if the bird in the picture is a female or male sparrow. However, it’s definitely a sparrow, that’s enough to know to tag this photo correctly for my blog. I hope you liked this photo. Continue reading House Sparrow

Lonely Robin

Here is a photo of a robin and it always looks like a backlit photograph. The bird and tree branches became so dark because my ISO was set too low for the cloudy day, but in this case I do really love the result, because as said, it looks like a backlight photograph. I expected it would be a robin bird, but to me sure I raised the shadow details for a moment and saw “Yep, it’s a robin” and decreased it again as I wanted to preserve the backlight effect. You can find more photos of robins on my … Continue reading Lonely Robin
