New Salad

My mother told me that she found a new salad recipe. It’s basically salad combined with Spaetzle (South German pasta, we actually write it “Spätzle“). Before you ask, yes, Spaetzle deserve an own name because they’re tasting different than noodles. So, you basically cook the Spaetze and after they cooled down, you combine them with all kind of things such as freshly cut radishes, green leaf lettuce, maybe some red ones too and don’t forget cherry tomatoes (yes, the little ones). Plus points if you add some  cubes of ewe’s cheese and a few freshly picked parsley  leaves (truth told, … Continue reading New Salad

Tasty Salad

My mother made the salad in the photo at the top. The way it was prepares is kinda unusual. She basically grated the salad but it was an interesting and new experience to eat it like that. The ingredients were lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and radish. Putting radish into it was unusual too as I’ve never seen someone in my family preparing it like that. But it was suggested by my mother and I agreed that we should try it out. And yes, it does fit. And it is another new salad photo in my collection on this blog. Continue reading Tasty Salad

Rettich

This is incredibly tasty, we call it “Rettich” in Germany. I actually tried to translate it but found out it is called “radish” in English, which is strange. Why? Because it seems the same word is used for another type of vegetables, the one we call Radieschen. I have no clue why “Radieschen” and “Rettich” are both called “radish” in English. Yes, they taste similar but they look very different. How do you distinguish if someone sends you to purchase “radish”? Continue reading Rettich

Radishes and Good Weather

So far, the summer was more like a mix of autumn and spring but since yesterday it’s pretty hot. So, it’s time to enjoy the weather on the balcony together with my mother but we have the awning lowered. It’s a good day, how is yours? Continue reading Radishes and Good Weather

First Garden Yields

On friday when we celebrated mom’s birthday in the garden, we also checked out how the garden plants are doing. We found the first radishes, we found three of them. Mom got one, her husband and I tested one too. Apart from the fact that I am a real fan of radishes, the garden radish tasted extremely good. The husband of my mother doesn’t like chemicals, he prefers to let the things grow on their own and you taste it. The garden radish was actually more tasty than those you get in the stores. Next we also checked out the … Continue reading First Garden Yields
