The Dark Below… New World of Warcraft Expansion 2014!

Ok the title of the blog post is still a little bit speculation but here are some interesting news: Blizzard registered the trademark title “The Dark Below” as MMO-Champion found out.

The name could either be the title of a new Blizzard game, a Diablo 3 expansion or a new World of Warcraft expansion. But it will be most likely the name of a new World of Warcraft expansion. Why?

The Dark Below is a place in the Warcarft Universe and something like a hell or underworld, inhabited by demons, devils and infernal creatures, from where some sorcerers take their power directly and sometimes have a patron beast to foster their magic as you can read on WoWWiki. But the term could also be related to the World of Warcraft underwater world of Azshara where a lot of tales about old gods could cover the story. These are the reasons why the term might be most likely associated with World of Warcraft rather than Diablo.

If this is true… Let´s talk already about the release date: I go so far and say it will be the end of 2014. Do you mean this all could be right? Are you excited and are you nosy? If this is true, will you play World of Warcraft The Dark Below in 2014?

UPDATE: The trademark “The Dark Below” vanished and can´t be found in any patent database anymore and it might be that it was a hoax or a big marketing bluff. Later there were new rumors about a potential blizzard trademark called “Heroes of the Storm” but Blizzard did let the cat out of the bag now and the new World of Warcraft expansion will be called Warlords of Draenor.
