Potatoes With Cabbage, Sausage And Minced Meat

Talking about classical German dishes, I’d say potatoes with cabbage, sausage and minced meat is definitely on the list. If you would visit a German family for some weeks, the odds are that you will see this dish on the table, especially in the colder seasons. I think this is one of the dishes that we eat very often in the colder seasons, I don’t know why, it’s just something I noticed in my family. Boiled cabbage has one feature, it will remain hot for quite a long time as same as potatoes don’t cool down very fast. I do … Continue reading Potatoes With Cabbage, Sausage And Minced Meat

Mashed Potatoes With Spinach And Fried Eggs

I am pretty much sure I posted photos of this dish quite often on my blog, because it’s one of my favorite dishes. Mashed potatoes with spinach and fried eggs, that is a fairly simple dish, even an untalented cook like me can prepare it. I know a lot of people who use a convenience product, a potato puree powder, you just boil water up, then you mix in the powder and milk. But you can also make it on your own if you have more time, it does even taste better. To fry eggs, that is no rocket science … Continue reading Mashed Potatoes With Spinach And Fried Eggs

Grilled Wienerwürstchen

Above you can see a sausage that we call “Wiener Würstchen” here in Germany and I think the English name is “Vienna sausage”. You can eat this sausage raw but usually people boil it and this is tasty too. But even as a German, it was new to me that some Germans do actually grill this sausage. The husband of my mother was born in East Germany and he told me that they usually did grill the “Wiener Würstchen”. I didn´t know how it would taste like but he is right, it´s fantastic and delicious too if it´s grilled. If … Continue reading Grilled Wienerwürstchen

Yet Again Another German Dish

Above you can see beef with potatoes, paprika, sprouts and a tasty sauce. The mother of my husband did cook it some time ago but the image is a little bit older. I still have so many photos here, and I want to save them on my blog, for the future. The husband of my mother is not a cook by profession but he is anyway a very good cook but specialized in german cuisine. I always said to him, he should open a restaurant because his dishes are so delicious but well, he has already a job and he … Continue reading Yet Again Another German Dish

Here Another Tasty Bratwurst…

It´s not a secret that I am german and it is not a secret that germans love Bratwurst and mustard. We have many different types of brats. If you need a fast meal when you are outside, it is always convenient if there is a bratwurst stall on your way. The Bratwurst on the image above was pretty expansive. I was shocked when the salesmen said I should pay 6 Euro (8 USD converted) for the tiniest Coca Cola bottle and the Bratwurst. That means 4 dollar for each! Anyway, the Bratwurst was as always tasty and a good snack … Continue reading Here Another Tasty Bratwurst…

If this does not look tasty…

Above you can see excelent german cuisine. Yes I go so far to call it excelent. Again the husband of my mother did swing the cooking spoon and what you see above is the result. Extremely delicious, really. I still wonder why he never became a cook, I mean jobwise. It´s funny. Because he cooks way better than the cooks of many local restaurants. He is always proud if I tell him and in my opinion he really can be proud as it is no lie. Above you can see beef with potatos, red cabbage, paprika and carrots. Do you … Continue reading If this does not look tasty…
