Potatoes With Cabbage, Sausage And Minced Meat

Talking about classical German dishes, I’d say potatoes with cabbage, sausage and minced meat is definitely on the list. If you would visit a German family for some weeks, the odds are that you will see this dish on the table, especially in the colder seasons. I think this is one of the dishes that we eat very often in the colder seasons, I don’t know why, it’s just something I noticed in my family. Boiled cabbage has one feature, it will remain hot for quite a long time as same as potatoes don’t cool down very fast. I do … Continue reading Potatoes With Cabbage, Sausage And Minced Meat

Curry Flavoured Sausage

On this photo you can see a sausage with curry flavour and mustard. Not to be confused with a real Currywurst! On the photo you see a very typical German sausage with a very unusual flavour when it comes to German sausages. It’s basically just something new, an alternative if you are bored of all the other sausages you can find in Germany. The curry flavoured sausage is not a big thing here and has not the popularity like our real Currywurst that I linked in this post. However, the sausage you see on the photo does taste great, I … Continue reading Curry Flavoured Sausage

Grilled Wienerwürstchen

Above you can see a sausage that we call “Wiener Würstchen” here in Germany and I think the English name is “Vienna sausage”. You can eat this sausage raw but usually people boil it and this is tasty too. But even as a German, it was new to me that some Germans do actually grill this sausage. The husband of my mother was born in East Germany and he told me that they usually did grill the “Wiener Würstchen”. I didn´t know how it would taste like but he is right, it´s fantastic and delicious too if it´s grilled. If … Continue reading Grilled Wienerwürstchen

Photo Gallery: German Barbecue Fun With The Family

My mother, her husband and me drove to Salem today, to visit my grandma and grandpa, my uncle and aunt and their kids. They have a caravan site there in the nature as I mentioned already a few times on my blog. They have this spot since decades when I was still a child. It´s basically a place where you can relax in the nature near the forests and the lakes if the warm season starts. But I think I mentioned often and you can find all the stories about Salem on my blog. Long story short… we met each … Continue reading Photo Gallery: German Barbecue Fun With The Family

Noodles And Sausages

Yes, we germans are even so crazy that we sometimes eat our sausages together with noodles and sauce. Above is one example. I love it and it is so tasty but I am not sure if everybody would think so. The dish above is very easy to cook. It is basically just cooking the noodles, throwing them into the sauce which is just a Maggi instant powder and throwing the sausages (Vienna sausage) into it as well. You could also create your own sauce but the instant powder is really very tasty in my opinion. The company Maggi calls the … Continue reading Noodles And Sausages

Here Another Tasty Bratwurst…

It´s not a secret that I am german and it is not a secret that germans love Bratwurst and mustard. We have many different types of brats. If you need a fast meal when you are outside, it is always convenient if there is a bratwurst stall on your way. The Bratwurst on the image above was pretty expansive. I was shocked when the salesmen said I should pay 6 Euro (8 USD converted) for the tiniest Coca Cola bottle and the Bratwurst. That means 4 dollar for each! Anyway, the Bratwurst was as always tasty and a good snack … Continue reading Here Another Tasty Bratwurst…
