Cats Do Appreciate Your Time

Shyna and plushie 1

There are many ways to keep your cat busy, but you don’t always have to be too creative, cats do also appreciate it if you just recognize them. I do play often with my cat, but sometimes I do just show her that I am there and that I want to share my time.

This can either be done by stroking or combing the cat, mentioning the name regularly to see the reaction, or following the cat when they want to show you something. There are so many ways to pay attention, playing is great but not the only thing we can do.

Your cat doesn’t want to play today? You don’t always have to play actively, little things count too. Put a plushie on your cat’s head anyway and see the confused but interested reaction. It’s about the interaction, showing that you have them in mind all the time.

Of course, we should also accept their periods of rest, but you often can see if they want to rest of if they are just bored. I just wanted to write that playing actively is not the only thing that cats find interesting, your time and the little things are too.

  1. Calling out my cat’s name is what I do when my hands are tied. He perks up, blinks his eyes at me at few times, and I can tell his mood is lifted. Even if I don’t get up, he still appreciates the acknowledgement. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That is true, when I am working on the PC for example, I call my cat at times anyway and she comes to me and I stroke her a few times until I continue to work ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, they are happy if we think about them even if we don’t have much time right now ๐Ÿ™‚ They appreciate it.

  2. Polly is content to do her own thing, usually sleeping :), for most of the day but when she is ready for company she’ll come and find me. She likes toys and will always react to something that moves. Not so good if you are trying to knit :). I gave her a small ball of wool of her own the other night but she liked the moving knitting needle. Throwing my pens and other small items off the desk is another favourite game for her. As for talking to pets I do that constantly and I think they understand a lot of it.

    1. I think they are pretty much the same at this point. Shyna does decide most of the time if she is up for fun, I know her behaviour well too, if she is going to the other rooms it either means she is tired or she doesn’t want to do anything or doesn’t want to have a human around her ๐Ÿ˜€ If she is constantly lurking near me, she wants me to keep her busy.

I think the only difference is that Shyna doesn’t always want to react to toys… she decides, I need to find out each day (laugh). Sometimes she wants to play actively, sometimes not as in the photos in this post… then I just annoy her witht the toys ๐Ÿ™‚

The table is something very interesting for cats I guess… Shyna is very interested in stuff from the table too, especially paper… I think that is because I sometimes create paperballs for her ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That’s the first thing most people notice… depending on the angle, the spot on the chin does sometimes even look like a heart (not in the photos above but in some cases), that’s what many said. ๐Ÿ™‚
