The Date with the Veterinarian

Today I carried my cat Shyna to the veterinarian. We had a date there for castration and removing her dental calculus under general anesthetic. We did plan this all already on our last date. However, there was anyway a small examination today. They did weigh my cat again and told me her weight is 3.5 kg. They also listened to her heart and said that everything sounds ok. I carried her to the veterinarian at 9 am and they told me I can pick her up at 6 pm. I must say I was so nervous and I still am.

Anyway here are some photos I took when we visited the veterinarian today. As said.. I will pick her up in the evening. I am so nervous. But since I have some experience and know how to reduce stress for the cat when I meet the veterinarian, I am still afraid that I did transfer the nervousness to my cat. But the vet noticed I was more nervous than my cat. She said I should not worry too much, thing will be ok after some days. 🙂

    1. Oh. Yea I do think we “can openers” are often more nervous than our pets 😦 We want the best for our cats and I think this is why we are so nervous then.

I can´t sleep right now. My cat is already some hours at home now and it looks like she still feels sick. She had to puke and I saw saliva coming out of her mouth. I can´t sleep today 😦

The doctor said this can happen. But anyway I really can´t close any eye now even if it´s already pretty late here in germany. I monitor her now so if things get worse, then I need to call a vet at night.

Good that it is weekend and that I am at home on the weekend.

But right now she went to her roosting place. I hope she will relax now. I will see 😦

  1. Is shyna ok now? Hoping shyna will get well soon. Me myself are unable to sleep whenever any of my cat are sick. Remember 1 time i carry my mattress to sleep beside my sick cat just to make sure i can watch and take care of him. He can’t walk at that time, i have to feed him, make him drink and clean him. The love we have for this animals are amazing right? They are cute, adorable and just by looking at them and hugging them is enough to brighten our day.. ^^

    1. Hi. Thanks for asking 🙂 Yes I do think she feels much better todday. She does not puke anymore and there is also no saliva anymore. But she looks still pretty tired but this seems to be ok. She needs to rest. On monday she has another date. The doctor just wants to look if everything is ok.
And then we get one more date in 7 days to remove the stitches of the castration. But I am lucky if all this stress for her is over soon.

But I am happy because I saw her drinking fresh water today and she also eaten some cat treats. Which looks like the teeth pain after removing dental calculus is away now. 🙂 I think she is now on a good way to feel good soon again. 🙂

You are so right… I thought about moving my mattress too. I have been concerned like you in the situation. But fortunately she did find a cozy place near me on the couch after I wrote the last comment yesterday. We fallen asleep while watching tv. 🙂 Anyway she still looked like on a acid trip. It was not a funny night.

Now I still take care if she wants to lick or pluck on the stitches. It didn´t happen yet but in case I see it, the doctor gave me a funnel-shaped scarf, which should make things safe then.

I agree with you… our animals give us so much and it is hard to see them while they suffer pain after a procedure like mentioned above. Yes they brighten our day a lot 🙂 And we want to give this back 🙂 Agree.

  2. Oh, you must be very worried. I know how you feel. Lala had anesthesia while being neutered. he puked after came home so I called the doctor and he said it’s normal, too but I couldn’t sleep that night. I hope Shyna will get well soon. 🙂

    1. You are right 🙂 She didn´t puke anymore last hours. She only looks still tired but it is much better today. Things will be ok soon 🙂 Thanks for sharing your experience as well.
